6 missing after Ganga river capsize in Bihar

Six people are missing after a boat carrying 17 passengers capsized in the Ganga River near Umanath Ghat in Barh sub-division of Patna district on Sunday morning. The mishap occurred at around 9:15 AM when the boat, mostly carrying members of a family, overturned midway. "The boat overturned and sank in the middle of the Ganga River. While 11 people have been rescued so far, some of them managed to swim to safety and reach the shore of the river, six are still missing," said Shubham Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Barh). The district administration and police personnel, with the help of locals, immediately started rescue operations.

The search for the six missing individuals continues, with the state disaster relief force also being engaged in the efforts. "We are trying to ascertain the identity of the missing persons," added Kumar. Visuals of the incident have surfaced, showing the frantic rescue operations. Authorities are urging anyone with information on the missing individuals to come forward, as the community rallies to support the search and rescue mission.
